CAL vs. Sacramento St., 41-3!

Today was my first college football game! Total yay for me! It was the California Bears against the Sacramento Hornets. Who won? We did41 to 3!  But that was a given anyway.

This afternoon, what I woke up to was a sea of BLUE and GOLD.  Everyone had their CAL shirts on, their blue and gold mardi gra beads on, and some even went all out as to paint themselves blue and gold; It was a complete CAL gear day.  Today being my first time actually inside the stadium, I was all psyched.  It was huge!  Seriously, I think our stadium is one of the prettiest. =]

Today's game attendance was a new record-- 65,938!!!  That is a gigantic number, considering the school only has like 30,000 some students.

But yeah, game day was "hella" fun!

...that's right, I said it. But duude, I am so, like, a SoCal girl at heart, yeah.

That's a really medium sized stadium if it only holds 66,000. Are you sure about it being a new record... against a Division 2 (i think) team? I would think Stanford games would bring in more people.

espn to the rescue!

In front of 65,398 fans -- the biggest season-opener crowd in school history

You were close though! Nice crowd considering the opponent - Cal fans really are excited about this season.

Re: espn to the rescue!

it wasn't the highest record like, ever. just for an opening game. i'm pretty sure the big game draws more since that shit sold out like a week ago.

Re: espn to the rescue!

hrmm, that's interesting, because I am so sure that it was 65,938. They had it up on the screen during the game, but I guess maybe I got it wrong.

Re: espn to the rescue!

Last Saturday, an opening day record crowd of 65,938 witnessed the Golden Bears' 41-3 win over Sacramento State at Memorial Stadium! The attendance number shattered the previous record of 58,949 set last season.

This is part of a letter the Cal Athletics sent me.
I was right. =D
